About

Born in 1972 in Dayton, Ohio, I had a decision to make near the end of high school. Art school and a career in medicine both called to me.

After much deliberation, I chose to become a doctor. Eight years of education, three years of residency, and a twelve year successful and fulfilling career as a physician followed.

I was riding his mountain bike one day in Loma, Colorado, and had an accident. An accident that would change the trajectory of my and my family’s lives.

While the resultant head injury ended my medical career prematurely, I found the right side of my brain opened wide. My passion for painting rekindled and quickly took off. The richness of the human spirit I found in medicine now I was trying to translate onto canvas.

My goal in painting is not simply to reproduce a moment or a thing. I want to capture and amplify the emotion of the moment. If I am painting a person, I try to capture their essence, their spirit. If I am painting a place or a thing, I try to capture the feeling I get, not just what I see. My goal is to create something that is by itself beautiful and fills the viewer with emotion.

My studio/gallery is located in Fruita, Colorado at the Fruita Arts and Recreation Marketplace (FARM). 158 S. Park Square, #207. Fruita, CO. 81521.
